False Claims Act Attorney
The False Claims Act allows those with knowledge of fraud involving federal contracts to “blow the whistle” by filing a lawsuit on behalf of the U.S. government, which retains the right to join the action if it so chooses. When we were approached by employees of a moving company who allegedly witnessed falsification of weight tickets used to bill the government for the cost of service member relocations, we applauded their courage and knew we needed to help. The evidence behind the fraud allegations was strong enough that the claims were settled for $5 million. In addition to the government’s recovery of actual damages and penalties, the whistleblowers’ honesty allowed them to collect 25 percent of the settlement funds plus attorney fees as provided under the Act. We are so pleased that we were able to assist citizens who spoke up for a resource as important to this country as the military.
