Spartanburg, South Carolina nestles snugly in the foothills of the awesome Blue Ridge Mountains. This award-winning "college town" is the seat of Spartanburg County and the second largest city in SC’s Upstate Region. • The Supreme Court is composed of a Chief Justice and four Associate Justices who are elected to a term of ten years by the General Assembly.

• Probate Court handles estate and mental health matters. The Circuit Court and Magistrate Court generally determine cases involving credit and collections.
• The prosecutorial system is made up of the circuit solicitors and the Attorney General's Office.

Spartanburg lies 98 miles northwest of SC's Capital City of Columbia and 80 miles west of Charlotte, North Carolina. Georgia's massive city of Atlanta is less than 200 miles to the southwest, giving Spartanburg an ideal location for business. Two airports service the city: Downtown Spartanburg Memorial Airport and the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport.

Found here are the University of South Carolina Upstate, the private women’s liberal arts institute Converse College, the Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic, Spartanburg Community College, Spartanburg Methodist College and Wofford College, founded 1854, a Phi Beta Kappa liberal arts college.

Spartanburg honors its increasingly diverse population with the annual International Festival. May is the time for Spring Fling - Fest, a street festival held in historic Downtown Spartanburg, newly revitalized and beautiful to behold. Spartanburg hosts the Piedmont Interstate Fair each October, and is the site of the Miss South Carolina Beauty Pageant as well.
