Attorney M. David Scott
M. David Scott is a graduate of Lancaster High School and the University of South Carolina, where he majored in Political Science. After graduation, he worked for the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services as a supervising agent and an investigator, before being promoted to supervisor. He was named the Regional Employee of the Year in 1994. David attended the University of South Carolina School of Law from 1997 to 2000, where he was awarded a Juris Doctor.
After law school, David clerked for the Honorable Costa M. Pleicones of the South Carolina Supreme Court from 2000 to 2002. He then joined Richard A Harpootlian, P.A. as an associate attorney in July of 2002, where he primarily worked to defend persons charged with criminal offenses and representing plaintiffs in civil actions. At the Harpootlian Firm, David was exposed to cases involving criminal allegations ranging from driving under the influence to murder. In civil practice, David has represented clients in a wide array of cases, including personal injury claims, insurance bad faith claims, contract disputes, consumer rights violations, and wrongful death and survival actions.
David is currently licensed to practice in all South Carolina state courts, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
