$23 Million Awarded in Tractor-Trailer Accident Injury

A Richmond man who was severely injured in 2007 while driving a tractor-trailer has received a $23 million award from a Richmond Circuit Court, reports the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The man, now 42-years-old, was driving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 295 in Henrico County when his semi collided with a semi from Moen, Inc. when it pulled onto the interstate.  The jury found Moen, Inc., manufacturer of faucets, should pay $23 million plus $700,000 in interest to the injured driver.

The driver, a father of three, had to be cut out of his tractor-trailer and flown to VCU Medical Center with life threatening injuries.  He suffered a crushed pelvis, traumatic brain injury, and crushed legs.  He has undergone 27 surgeries since the accident.
