California Woman Awarded $843,567 in Trip-and-Fall Case
Tuesday, October 26th, 2010
A 45-year-old woman was awarded $843,567 for injuries suffered when she fell down stairs at Plazita Medical Clinic, reports the Santa Cruz Sentinel.
The suit claimed the owners of the building knew the stairs were unsafe and they refused to fix them or to post warning signs. The woman sustained injuries to her back, leg, hip and arm and continues to need injections and other treatment for permanent nerve damage.
The original award was for $1.05 million, but the jury determined the woman was 20% responsible for her fall.
The defendants plan to appeal the verdict.
