Medical Malpractice Filed In Louisiana Following Bypass Surgery Death
Tuesday, September 21st, 2010
An Indiana woman has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against a licensed nurse practitioner and The Louisiana Medical Center and Heart Hospital regarding the death of her husband, reports the Louisiana Record.
According to the records, her husband had a successful five vessel bypass grafting in October, 2007. Shortly afterwards, he was showing signs of cardiac compromise, but according to the lawsuit, the nurses failed to notify his doctor. When the cardiologist did discover his patient’s condition, plans were made for emergency surgery. While being intubated, the patient suffered cardiac arrest and died three weeks later.
Damages for her husband’s pain and suffering, fear of imminent death and for her grief, mental suffering, loss of future support, and burial expenses are among the compensation claims being sought in the lawsuit.
